My name is coach Ian and I have been at athletics academy since the beginning of 2024. I grew up in county Kerry in Ireland and played a wide range of team sports growing up. I also competed on the school cross country team as well as reaching national finals in 100-metre relays with my local area. I have always held a keen interest in athletics since these fantastic experiences. The relationships built from competing together and against others are some of the strongest you can build in a lifetime!

My favourite event would be the middle distances ranging from 800-1500 metres and they take a special kind of discipline to excel in.

My favourite athletics memory would be the joy from racing with my friends and winning our provincial qualifiers at underage level, they are still some of my best friends to this day! I always appreciated the help I received from all the coaches I had in many sports and am privileged to be able to give back now.
