Coach Olivia
My name is Coach Olivia, and I joined Athletics Academy in 2025 and have lived in Abu Dhabi for the past four years. I’ve always believed that sports shape us beyond just the physical aspect—they build character, resilience, and a strong mindset. Growing up in Yorkshire, I had a deep passion for dance, competing professionally from a young age. Dance taught me invaluable skills such as resilience, determination, and discipline—traits that have stayed with me throughout my life and have heavily influenced my coaching approach today.
What excites me most about coaching athletics is the opportunity to create a positive impact on others, both physically and mentally. Athletics is about more than just performance; it’s about pushing limits, building self-confidence, and helping athletes realise their true potential. I’m passionate about fostering a supportive and encouraging environment where every athlete can thrive. Additionally, my experience in the dance world has also shaped my coaching philosophy. In dance, much like athletics, it’s not just about the routine; it’s about precision, technique, and mental focus. These are aspects that I incorporate into my athletic coaching, whether it’s through sprinting, hurdling, or other disciplines.
Growing up, I was inspired by many athletes, but one who stands out the most is Jessica Ennis-Hill. Her victory in the 2012 London Olympics, where she won the heptathlon was inspiring. I remember watching that moment and feeling incredibly motivated by her resilience, focus, and determination. Her ability to handle pressure, perform at her best, and her unwavering belief in herself throughout the competition made her a true role model.
Currently, I enjoy running and strength training in the gym, not just for physical health, but as a crucial part of my mental well-being. Through this, I’ve learned the importance of discipline and maintaining consistency in order to achieve my goals.
